EUACA GUIDANCE FOR CARRIERS AND COORDINATORS: SLOT USAGE AT AIRPORTS UNDER THE AMENDED EU SLOT REGULATION, SUMMER 2021

The amendment of EU Slot Regulation 95/93, that set the rules for a waiver on use-it or lose-it rules at EU airports and which will apply in Summer Season 2021 (S21), has been published today, February 19th 2021 on EU official journal.

Quick References:

• Carriers may hand back complete historic series of slots at an airport up to 50% of slots as allocated for S20 before Saturday 27 February 22h59 UTC and retain historic precedence for Summer 2022 without operating these slots (complete series alleviation).
• The calculation of the total number of slots which a carrier may hand back will be based on a carrier’s Slot Historical List (SHL) as agreed with the carrier in September 2020 for historic precedence for slot submissions for S21 (S21 SHL).
This information is available on our website on the following area: Airports (choose airport) / Reports (choose S21 / SAL / Slot List by Airline – Historical column)
Only the series of slots that were sent on SHL and claimed, either with F or C/R, are on the conditions to receive full alleviation.
• In case of Force Majeure situation you can request the flight to be considered as operated for the 50% utilization calculation, according to Justified Non-Usage of Slots list (JNUS), for a period up to six weeks before the schedule date of operation providing that you include in SI all relevant information for further analysis.
