A​TLANTIC FIR O​PERATIONS D​IRECTORATE (DOPATL)

M​ISSION: 

Ensure, in accordance with national and international regulations and under the utmost higher patterns of safety, security and efficiency, the provision of air navigation services in the Flight Information Region of Santa Maria.

Main sub-area functions:

Air Traffic Service (TRAATL)
- Propose and implement the necessary policies to ensure a safe, efficient and quality empowered management of the air traffic services at Santa Maria FIR.
- Coordinate the activity of air traffic services with the neighbouring FIRs, airports, military authorities and other relevant entities

Control Centre and Santa Maria Tower (CONTATL)
- Provide en route air traffic services in Santa Maria FIR.
- Provide air traffic control, flight information and alert service 
- Contribute towards the air traffic flow management.

Aeronautical Information and Communications (ICAATL)
- Disseminate the aeronautical information and communications to all the internal and external parties
- Provide the aeronautical fixed and mobile telecommunications service at Santa Maria FIR.
- Manage the activities of the Santa Maria Communications Centre.

Ponta Delgada Tower (TWRPON)
- Provide approach and aerodrome air traffic control, flight information and alert service at João Paulo II airport
- Provide aeronautical information and communications services at João Paulo II.

Horta Tower (TWRHOR)
Provide approach and aerodrome air traffic control, flight information and alert service at Horta airport.
Provide aeronautical information and communications services at Horta airport.

Flores Tower (TWRFLO)
- Provide approach and aerodrome air traffic control, flight information and alert service at Flores airport.
- Provide aeronautical information and communications services at Flores airport.

Atlantic Procedures and Operational Standards (POPATL)
- Collaborate in the elaboration of need requirements for the air traffic service units.
- Collaborate in the definition of requirements and operational standards
- Specify and monitor the implementation of projects under the scope of aeronautical telecommunications, specifically in the field of radio telephony.




Maintenance (MANATL)
- Ensure the maintenance service of equipment and services at Santa Maria FIR, in accordance with the appropriate regulations and standards, providing the utmost higher levels of availability and reliability of the aforementioned equipment and systems.

Telecommunications and Supervision Maintenance (TELATL)
- Undertake the technical supervision of aeronautical systems and equipment for the air traffic management of Santa Maria FIR. 
- Perform the maintenance of aeronautical telecommunication systems and equipment at the Santa Maria Control Centre, Santa Maria Tower and at the neighbouring associated stations

Electromechanical Maintenance (MELATL)
- Perform the maintenance of the electromechanical systems of all the operations activity centres at Santa Maria FIR.

Ponta Delgada Maintenance (MANPON)
- Perform the maintenance of systems and equipment at the Ponta Delgada airport Control Tower and at the neighbouring associated stations.

Horta Maintenance (MANHOR)
- Perform the maintenance of systems and equipment at the Ponta Delgada airport Control Tower and at the neighbouring associated station.

Flores Maintenance (MANFLO)
- Perform the maintenance of systems and equipment at the Flores airport Control Tower and at the neighbouring associated station.

FIN & RH (FINPES)
- Perform all the duties concerning the financial area and resources management support under the functional authority of the Administrative and Financial Department and the Management Resources Support Department.
- Ensure all the services for IT support, in strict coordination with the area of Systems and IT of the Administrative and Finance Department.

General Support (NAPATL)
- Perform all the activities in the area of logistics and dispatch management in order to ensure the optimum operation of the Department.
- Monitor the execution of service provision contracts (security, safety, cleaning…)
- Coordinate the auxiliary staff actions, car park and the Department personal drivers.
- Ensure the optimum functioning of the dispatch and documental archive.
- Ensure the maintenance and good condition of the housing stock.
- Coordinate the actions stemming from the HHSW programme and the security and safety plan of DOPATL.
