INTRODUCTION
The following information is provided to support all airline operators, service providers, and pilots involved in flight operations to navigate around the products and services that are available from the Portuguese Aeronautical Information Service (AIS).
INTEGRATED AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION PACKAGE (IAIP)
The IAIP contains aeronautical information regarding the Organisation, Operation and Location of Aerodromes, Airspace, Navigation Aids and Facilities as well as any information pertinent to the safety of flight within the airspace.
- AIP – Aeronautical Information Publication (eAIP)
- AIP Amendments are issued at regular intervals according to a published 28 day cycle.
- AIP Supplements (SUP) are used to notify temporary changes of long duration (usually more than three months) or changes requiring extensive text and/or graphics.
- Aeronautical Information Circulars (AIC) contain information that does not qualify for inclusion into the AIP or a NOTAM. They are used to provide information which relates to flight safety, air navigation, technical, administrative or legislative matters and may be used for disseminating information with graphical content.
NEW AIP PACKAGE CONTENTS – Contain latest published AIP amendments, Supplements and AICs.
FORTHCOMING PUBLICATIONS – Contain future information to be published.
Remark: This area of information requires registration. Existing users will simply need to re-use their unique username and password
NOTAM cover short duration or temporary changes or short notice permanent changes. They contain information concerning the establishment, condition or change in any aeronautical facility, service, procedure or hazard, the timely knowledge of which is essential to personnel concerned with flight operations.
The AIS web site provides access NOTAM information through EAD Public User. After logging into EAD via the login register you will be able to begin using EAD Basic’s applications.
PIB – Pre-flight Information Bulletin
NOTAM are made available in the form of a Pre-flight Information Bulletin. In order to produce a PIB it is necessary to select the type of brief applicable to your operation. All the templates used to obtain a NOTAM brief have pre-defined parameters which can be refined by the user to meet their own requirements.
This application provides validated worldwide original and processed messages of the following types:
- NOTAM (Notice to Airmen);
- SNOWTAM (NOTAM Publishing Information about ice, snow and standing water on aerodrome movement areas);
- ASHTAM (NOTAM reporting volcanic ash hazards).
The following briefing types are available:
- Aerodrome
- Area and Special Area, based on Airspace or Centre Point Radius;
- Route, based on Aerodrome of Departure/Destination and Over-Flown FIRs
SDO – Static Data Operation
EAD’s Static Data Operation provides a central repository of validated specific AIP data used in AIS and ATM. SDO allows data users to generate pre-defined reports and to create their own, user-defined reports. A set of pre-defined filters can be incorporated in the report creation (e.g. validity, period, sorting order, aeronautical region, etc).
SDO coverage – Worldwide Minimum Data Set.
Full set of aeronautical information data published in AIP:
- Aerodrome information including procedures and obstacles
- Enroute information such as Airspaces, Routes, Navaids and Waypoints
- General information such as: Organisation, Authority and Units
SDO coverage – Worldwide
Minimum set of static data required for NOTAM validation and PIB generation encompassing aerodromes, runways, airspaces, routes, navaids and waypoints.
PAMS - Published AIP Management System
Enables Public Data Users to search aeronautical documents based on the meta-data filters associated with the documents or the content of the documents itself.
Functions:
- Search document
- Download documents
- Request AIP document family
- Receive PAMS document
CONTINGENCY BRIEFS
Several additional briefings are obtainable via AIS website. These bulletins are available as a contingency should EAD website become unserviceable. By default all briefings have 24 hours validity from the time they were constructed and they are updated every 4 hours.
The AIS website provides six types of contingency bulletins:
- LISBOA FIR IFR/VFR BULLETIN
- SANTA MARIA FIR IFR/VFR BULLETIN
- INTERNATIONAL AERODROMES LISBOA FIR
- NATIONAL AERODROMES LISBOA FIR
- AERODROMES SANTA MARIA FIR
- NAVIGATION WARNINGS
NOTAM SUMMARIES
NOTAM Summary is a compilation of valid NOTAMS issued on the 1st working day of each month, that complementary contains a Checklist of the latest AIS publications issued internationally by Portuguese Aeronautical Information Services.
NOTAM Summaries are available in three series:
• Series A - Contains information concerning:
- Aerodromes available for International Air Traffic;
- Aerodromes available for National Air Traffic and published in AIP Portugal Section AD 2;
- Rules and Procedures;
- Air Traffic Services Airspace;
- Radio Navigation Facilities;
- Navigation Warnings;
- En-Route Air Navigation Obstacles whose height above the ground is 100m or higher.
- Series A is promulgated in English
• Series C – Contains information concerning:
-Aerodromes / Heliports available for National Air Traffic published in VFR Manual, except those published in series A;
-En-Route Air Navigation Obstacles whose height above the ground is 60m or higher until 100m;
-Hand amendment to any section of the VFR Manual (NOTAM PERM).
-Series C is promulgated in English.
• Series D – Contains information concerning:
-All aerodromes / Heliports available for National Air Traffic published in VFR Manual (including those published in series A);
-En-Route Air Navigation Obstacles whose height above the ground is 60m or higher until 100m;
-Hand amendment to any section of the VFR Manual (NOTAM PERM).
-Series D is promulgated in Portuguese
VFR MANUAL
The VFR Manual contains general information and rules for VFR flights within Portugal,
information concerning Aerodromes/Heliports and RWY for ULM with civil use, approved for VFR operation (including visual approach and aerodrome charts) and information pertinent to the safety of flight within the airspace.
The VFR Manual is published in a Bilingual Edition (Portuguese/English).
